Alongside is a virtual body-doubling focus app for iOS. A friendly ASCII companion, Bud-e, keeps you company during timed focus sessions. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data Alongside collects, how it is used, and your rights.
Alongside collects anonymous, aggregated analytics to help us understand how the app is used and to improve it. This data includes:
Analytics are processed by TelemetryDeck, a privacy-first analytics provider based in the EU. All user identifiers are cryptographically hashed on your device before being transmitted. TelemetryDeck does not track users across apps or websites.
Alongside does not collect, store, or transmit:
Alongside does not require or support user accounts. There is no sign-up, login, or profile.
Your goals, focus history, awards, points, and preferences are stored locally on your device. We do not operate any server that receives this data.
If you enable iCloud sync (an optional Alongside Pro feature), this data is synced across your own devices through your private iCloud account using Apple’s iCloud key-value storage. It stays within your Apple account — we never see it, receive it, or store it.
Alongside offers an optional one-time in-app purchase (Alongside Pro). All purchase transactions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information.
The only third-party services used are TelemetryDeck (anonymous analytics) and Apple iCloud (optional sync through your own account). No data is shared with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.
Alongside does not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. The app does not require any personal information to use.
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
